Allyson is a Johannesburg business woman who loves mountain biking. When he is not falling into crevasses or crapping in his pants on a cliff face in the Magaliesberg, Marc is fitness trainer at a Houghton gym.
Eighteen months after meeting, Allyson and Marc reached the crater rim of the highest active volcano in the world, Ojos del Salado. During this two-week self-organised expedition, they cycled 360km from the Chilean coast, through the high-altitude Atacama Desert, and climbed the volcano to its summit.
Their talk focuses on how they knew they were ready to tackle a self-organised expedition and a 6900m peak; deciding to undertake this adventure together; and what got them to the top.
